Matterport Captures History at Arnaud’s Restaurant in New Orleans
Once upon a time, a Matterporter ventured down to New Orleans to snag a scan of Arnaud’s, one of the city’s most historic and renowned restaurants and an upscale option for creole classics.
Founded in 1918 by Arnaud Cazenave, Arnaud’s boasts New Orleans’ largest kitchen, a Mardi Gras museum of vintage photographs and gowns, and a heaping helping of bayou ghosts dating back to the late 1700s. Matterport is still perfecting capture of the paranormal, but you can tour the main dining room and the Mardi Gras collection of Germaine Cazenave Wells below.
Arnaud’s features 14 private dining rooms, and was the first French Quarter establishment to reopen after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.
Walk through its flair-filled hallways and look down on the main dining room from the mezzanine as if you were there.
How we did it
Arnaud’s presents a technical challenge for Matterport because of the abundance of mirrors and windows. However, proper use of the window and mirror marking tools results in a great walkthrough experience here. (For another example of how scanning with lots of windows, see our scan of the U.S.S.
