Wall Street Subway Station

Explore This! Experience the commuting life of a New Yorker on this subway platform at Wall Street Station in Manhattan’s Financial District. This particular station is an exit point for East Side uptowners to get to the famous Wall Street, New York Stock Exchange, and the 9/11 Memorial via Lexington Avenue. Commuters on this southbound platform can take the 4 or 5 trains to Flatbush and Utica Avenues in Brooklyn. The Wall Street station was built in June 1905, and parts of the original details can still be seen today, including the blue mosaic station name panels on the walls, large iron pillars, and the carved ceiling accents. The rest of the station tile work was installed in 2006 to bring it back to its original style, with traditional white subway tiles and border embellishments. For most New Yorkers, this is just another stop in their day-to-day commute, but this subway station and the rest of the New York City Subway System are admired by many as a milestone in the history of metropolitan rapid transit systems.
