London, 20th February 2020: TUI UK, the UK’s number one holiday provider, has announced the adoption of 3D digital twins from leading spatial data company, Matterport.
The technology will be used to offer an immersive and transparent booking experience, initially for nine of its TUI SENSATORI hotels. TUI will later utilise Matterport technology to create 3D digital twins across its wider portfolio.
TUI SENSATORI is a sub brand that offers luxury holidays designed to fuel the senses.
The 3D captures, which were taken with a Matterport Pro2 camera, were completed over a six-week period. The digital twins are fully comprehensive, providing data and visual representation across every part of each of the nine hotels, with over 240 spaces captured.
TUI has embraced Matterport technology in order to increase content accuracy on their website, create more innovative and interactive content and to provide an unparalleled level of transparency for their customers. The Matterport digital twins will also serve to provide more versatile content for internal and external uses, which could include reporting, documentation and facilities management, alongside marketing and to increase the customer experience.
Rebecca Williams, Photography & Video Product Manager at TUI said that: “Our customers are becoming increasingly more tech savvy and demanding more transparency when they look to book a holiday. Matterport technology is a great solution to this, providing state of the art digital twins that provide a true representation of the hotels. TUI SENSATORI is our luxury collection, and with Matterport technology our customers are able to effectively immerse themselves in these resorts. The technology is a refreshing change from the fisheye lens that is often used in hotel photography.”
“Whilst marketing and accurate representation is hugely important for our business, Matterport’s digital twins also help with wayfinding, hotel management and documentation. As a company we are committed to embracing tech solutions which provide transparency and efficiency for our customers.”

As technology becomes increasingly more important in the sector, due to changing customer habits, TUI has been extremely responsive to changing trends. The ability to capture digital twins of real-world spaces is an extremely powerful tool. Matterport technology is a great way for TUI to engage its customers with the TUI SENSATORI brand. We look forward to working with them to introduce this service to their customers now and with further engagement in the future.”
