Matterport Appoints Jeffrey Harris Vice President of Sales and Business Development

Mountain View, Calif. — January 28, 2015 —  Matterport, a leader in computer vision and 3D computational photography, today announced that Jeffrey Harris, a recognized expert in bringing high technology to the real estate industry, has been appointed Vice President of Sales and Business Development at the company and will head up the company’s new offices in Chicago.

Harris will oversee Matterport’s sales and business development efforts focusing on the real estate market and will continue to build on the growth and momentum Matterport has achieved since commercially releasing its 3D camera and cloud-based platform for hosting and sharing 3D photographs in March 2014. Real estate brokerages and agents across the country have adopted Matterport’s 3D Showcase to create immersive images that let prospective buyers conduct virtual walk-throughs and better experience the floor plan and flow of prospective homes.

“Jeff understands how technology can make researching and buying homes more compelling,” said Bill Brown, CEO of Matterport. “He will play a pivotal role as we expand our partnerships and deploy our 3D platform broadly throughout the real estate industry. This is just the beginning for 3D and we welcome Jeff to our management team as we continue to grow our early success in the real estate market.”

Jeff began his career as a CPA/JD specializing in real estate transactions. As general counsel at a real estate auction firm, he marketed and sold virtually every type of real estate, from a small vacant lot to developer closeouts to shopping centers and industrial properties. When the Internet boom hit, Jeff helped launch bid4real, a venture-capital backed startup that created real estate auction technologies licensed by the Chicago Tribune, among others. Jeff also served as the Vice President of Business Development at online brokerage iNest where he conceived the idea of using iNest’s new home data as content for other websites. He later helped sell iNest to LendingTree in 2004 and subsequently held executive positions at LendingTree where he collaborated on real estate initiatives with companies such as Trulia, Zillow, CitySearch, ServiceMagic, Yahoo! and Google.

Most recently Jeff served as Vice President of Business Development at VHT, the nation’s largest real estate photography provider, where he created partnerships with media companies, portals, syndicators and other real estate technology companies.

“Matterport is one of those rare technologies that people love at first sight,” said Harris. “The number of real estate brokers that have already adopted Matterport 3D Showcase shows that the industry understands how 3D technology can help accelerate business and make their listings stand out among the thousands of online offerings. I look forward to working with the team and building on the company’s accomplishments.”

Founded by researchers from Google, SRI and PayPal, Matterport is dedicated to bringing 3D media to the mainstream. The company’s 3D camera and cloud technology allows anyone to take, view or share three-dimensional photographs of homes, buildings, offices and other interior spaces. Matterport 3D images can be viewed on tablets, laptops or smart phones as well as select brands of virtual reality headsets. Smart phones that can capture Matterport 3D photos will come to market later this year.
